Dead Car Battery Help
Dead Car Battery help
Realising your car battery is dying is a heart-stopping moment, especially if you are on the road. You should avoid panicking, though, as there is a simple process to take when this moment arrives, and you might even end up able to drive home. Your focus is to prevent accidents and try to save your car battery, and this is how to do it.
Get the Car Off the Road
As soon as you notice your car battery is dying, you must get your car off the road. This way, if any cars are driving fast behind you, they are less likely to crash into the back of your vehicle.
Doing this is especially important if you are in a busy area! Hopefully, you will be able to drive the car to the path, but if not, then you might have to push it. In this situation, seek the help of a samaritan.
Try Jump-Starting the Battery
This step is only for people who know how to jump-start a car battery. If you are on your own, you should try to get the help of another person nearby; there’s usually someone willing to lend a hand! If you are successful in jump-starting the battery, then make sure you drive your car for at least fifteen minutes, as this will allow it to charge. So, if you are only five minutes from home, consider taking the long route back.
Call for a road Assistance
Jump-starting doesn’t always work, and if that’s the case for you, then it is time to call road assistance. If you weren’t able to jump-start or didn’t know how, then they could assist you with that. They will also tow your car to a repair shop if there is nothing that they can do there and then.
Calling road assistance can leave you with a hefty bill, and not everyone can afford that right away. If this is the case, then you could consider applying for a quick loan so you are not caught short when you need it
Go to a Mechanic /Garage
After experiencing a dying battery, you will want to head to your local mechanic to give your car a once-over. They’ll be able to let you know if you need a replacement, and they will also check the other parts of your car to make sure you are safe on the road. Use Which to find out how to find the best repair garage for your needs.
