So this was to be one of those journeys on which I was plagued by the “Winter Sun” . Of course, my staff says that I should wear sunglasses, but I prefer not to, as they annoy me!
Also, I am always losing them! So whenever I need them, they are nowhere to be found. Generally, I adjust the van’s sun visors as much as I can. So to keep the sun’s glare from affecting my driving vision.
This particular delivery day was to the West of England. Starting out near Birmingham and finishing up in Gloucester. Before returning back to Yorkshire and home. So, this LFD 140 varta was to an address in the Gloucester docks area of this fine city.

So this surprised me, as I always thought that Gloucester was inland. However, when arriving from the M5 motorway, sure enough, I saw signs for “Gloucester Docks”.
Surprisingly, the dock area was huge and looked really nice. Little did I know that this was one of the best-known shipping docks inland.
So, the docks are linked to the sea by the 16-mile Gloucester and Sharpness Canal. On arrival, I noticed that there was a complete mixture of pleasure boats and canal boats moored up in one of the docks larger areas.
So, the canal was opened in 1827 to bypass the winding “River Severn”. Thus making it one of the busiest inland docks in the UK.
Incredibly, I arrived at the docks in good time and called the customer! informing him of my arrival. As usual, the guy was happy to see it, as he wanted the LFD 140 Varta Leisure Battery urgently for his narrow canal narrow boat.

So, the dock area was a busy place even in February. However, the weather was great for this time of year. After a cup of coffee, I set off back up the M5 motorway with the satisfaction of discovering another wonderful English location.
