6 signs that you could have a faulty car battery

  1. The car is slow to start or doesn’t start at all.
  2. The dashboard warning light for the battery comes on.
  3. The headlights are dim or flicker when the car is idling.
  4. The car makes a clicking noise when you turn the key in the ignition.
  5. The battery terminals are corroded or covered in white powdery residue.

The battery is more than 3 years old and has not been replaced

So, normally, my collections and deliveries are hundreds of miles away. However, not all deliveries are like this. This week, we had a call to arms regarding a suspected faulty leisure battery.

The customer lived in a beautiful part of the world here in Yorkshire. Precisely, my collection address was “Snape in North Yorkshire,” a journey of a mere hour and a half!

The customer had already had the Warranty Leisure Battery tested at his local garage. Importantly, we do respect this action from the customer. So, if the battery is tested and found to be faulty, then we will exchange the battery or issue a refund if the customer has had to buy a replacement.

Could be faulty on vacation!

Respectfully, we do understand that a battery could fail when the customer is on vacation. This frequently occurs when travelling abroad, necessitating the purchase of a replacement warranty leisure battery. So, to continue with the vacation or other journey, I have to stress, though, that this is very rare! However, it is all part of the service.

Arrival at Snape

This was going to be another beautiful day in Yorkshire. I was to exchange a faulty battery at a house in Snape, North Yorkshire.

On arrival, I was surprised to see an actual castle! Of course, it is known as “Snape Castle.” This was to be yet another gem for me when travelling around the UK delivering my batteries.

So the castle, like most of the UK, was steeped in history.

Historically, it dates from the mid-13th century. The castle has a very varied and interesting history and is well worth a visit if you are touring the North Yorkshire area. Snape is located halfway between Ripon and other market towns, including the famous “James Herriot’s Vet Country” in and around the Thirsk area.

James Herriot country-Warranty leisure Battery

James Herriot is the pen name of James Alfred Wight, a British veterinarian and author.

His books, which include “All Creatures Great and Small,” “All Things Bright and Beautiful,” and “All Things Wise and Wonderful,” are set in the rural Yorkshire Dales in northern England and are based on his experiences as a veterinarian in the area during the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s.

The area is often referred to as “James Herriot Country” due to the popularity of his books and the fact that many of the locations mentioned in the books are still in existence and can be visited by tourists

Finally, there is a great link to the “history of Snape Castle.” Oh, and I was able to swap out the bad leisure battery and got home safely, happy with my day’s work.
